A 66-year old man joined IMC in December 2022. As far as he was concerned, he was in good health and told us as much during the application process.
However, his in-depth screening picked up low iron levels. He admitted that this had been picked up and his doctor had recommended iron supplements. Nothing serious (apparently). Sensing there was more to this than met the eye, our specialist physician requested more detailed blood tests and scopes.
The physician picked up a rare form of cancer called Myelodysplastic Syndrome.
He is now being managed by an oncologist with conservative treatment. His physician saved his life, preventing him from developing cancer and thus needing chemotherapy and radiation.
